WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A man who has previously served time for counts of possessing child pornography will have a one-day jury trial on new charges this June.
Travis Errthum was in court on Tuesday where Judge Gregory Huber scheduled a one-day trial for June 22nd for 13 counts of possession of child pornography, each of which carries a repeat modifier.
Charges stem from a 2019 search of his cell phone, which turned up multiple images and videos featuring young girls. He’s currently being held at the Redgranite Correctional Institute while he awaits trial.
The 49-year-old served ten years in prison after being found guilty of child porn charges in 2008. He has pled not guilty to the new charges for reasons of mental disease or defect, saying he has an addiction to younger girls.
In addition to the charges he will go to trial for in June, there is one additional case against him that was opened in 2021 which features ten additional counts. However, there is no pending action in that case.
Errthum returns to court on April 28th for a final pre-trial conference.
