WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau Water Works is on the scene of a sanitary sewer break along Sturgeon Eddy Road near the intersection of Wisconsin Street this evening.
The broken pipe is used to transmit wastewater from the southeast side of town across the Wisconsin River and to the city treatment plant.
The break has closed Sturgeon Eddy Rd from Grand Avenue to Weston Ave. Drivers are being asked to avoide the area until the work is fixed.
The city is currently working with the WDNR to repair the pipe and arrange for temporary pumping and hauling of wastewater to the treatment plant. There is no clear timeline on the resolution of the situation, the city says they will provide updates as they become available.
