CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI (WSAU) A large crowd attended the funeral for 32-year-old Amanda Geissler of Thorp on Sunday. She died in a plane crash in Costa Rica on New Years Eve.
The funeral took place at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls. Friends, family, co-workers and former sports teammates were in attendance. Geissler was a stand-out basketball player at Throp High School and at UW-Stout. She would later earn an MBA from UW-Milwaukee.
She was working for the adventure-tourism company that organized a trip to Central America. Her plane crashed shortly after takeoff on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, killing 10 Americans. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
Geissler’s family is accepting donations for the “Amanda Geissler Memorial Fund.” They want to start a foundation in her memory. Donations can be made through the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls.
