MARATHON COUNTY, WI (WSAU) — The United Way of Marathon County released their latest “LIFE Report” for 2017-19.
Executive Director of the United Way of Marathon County, Jeff Sargent, says one of the bigger issues in Marathon County is bullying.
“The pressures that come from social media and social isolation,” said Sargent. “27% of students say that they don’t feel that they have a teacher or an adult that they can talk to when they have a problem.”
Sargent says many initiatives have been started in the county to deal with the growing issues of mental health and substance abuse.
Sargent also says the LIFE Report is a great tool and many area businesses will use the report as a recruiting tool.
“When they’re looking to recruit employees to come to work for their company, a lot of times they’ll give them a copy of the LIFE Report to show them this is a great place to live, work, and raise a family,” he said.
Sargent says it takes about a year to go through all of the data collected and to put the full report together.
