GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Wisconsin Republican US Senator Ron Johnson says he will meet with Supreme Court nominee Kentaji Brown Jackson before deciding whether or not he will vote in favor of her confirmation.
Johnson told WTAQ’s ‘The Morning News with Matt and Earl’ his vote is already leaning against confirmation.
“I think it’s quite clear that Judge Jackson will be a very reliable liberal judicial activist on the Supreme Court,” Johnson said. “That’s not the type of justice I want to vote to confirm.”
Johnson did say that he believed Jackson was smart and a qualified jurist.
“It was very disturbing, the incredibly low sentencing that she’s given for child porn offenders, and some of the answers–like how she couldn’t define what a woman was.”
Only one GOP Senator, Maine’s Susan Collins, has pledged to back Jackson, who has been nominated to replace outgoing Justice Stephen Breyer.
