NEKOOSA, WI (WSAU) — The Nekoosa School District canceled all classes on Friday because of a threat on social media.
Officials say the non-specific threat was made the previous night on social media. A police investigation later determined the threat originated from Okemos, Michigan.
A person of interest was taken into custody Friday morning. Police in both Nekoosa and Okemos are continuing the investigation, but do not believe the threat was credible.
The Wood County DA’s office is reviewing the case for likely charges.
Nekoosa Schools has been cleared to resume normal school operations.
