WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A substitute teacher charged with sexually assaulting two students in Wausau also worked in another area school district.
Zachary Robins is accused of inappropriately touching two elementary students in the Wausau School District on October 15th. According to the D.C. Everest School District, Robins substitute taught at their Evergreen Elementary School on October 18th.
The D.C. Everest District was notified of the investigation against Robins on the 18th and immediately removed him from the school after contacting the police. The District released a statement saying student safety is their number one priority and they acted as soon as they had enough information to do so against Robins.
More information has come out about Robins’s history as a substitute teacher. According to the Wausau School District, Robins was a substitute for them for 10 days in the 2018-2019 school year. He subbed at several of the elementary schools including, Franklin, G.D. Jones, Hawthorn Hills, Maine, Riverview, South Mountain, Stettin, Thomas Jefferson.
Robins only taught for a day and a half in the current school year in Wausau. He was hired by Parallel Education who say Robins was transferred over to them as he was originally employed by the Wausau School District. Parallel goes on to say Robins passed all background checks and state requirements before he was hired for the new school year. He has since been let go.
Robins is currently being held on a $10,000 signature bond with the first $1,000 in cash. He will return to court on December 12th for a pre-trial conference.
