RIB MOUNTIAN, WI (WSAU) — Police documents have provided more insight into what happened when a Toyota Avalon lost control and crashed while driving in a Rib Mountain parking lot last weekend.
The Avalon was traveling northbound between Kohl’s and Olive Garden when it struck a parked vehicle in the lot, then continued northbound until it struck a tree and went airborne. The vehicle overturned then struck a light pole and came to rest on its wheels.
The passenger in the vehicle, 31-year-old Danielle Dahlquist of Wausau, was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died. The driver of the vehicle was also hospitalized but no update on their condition has been made available and their name has not been released.
In addition to striking the parked vehicle and causing minor damage, the car also ran into another vehicle during the crash, causing it to bump into a 4th vehicle.
Police say the driver was operating the vehicle aggressively or recklessly. Though it’s not believed alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
Blood test results from the driver are pending. Neither Dahlquist nor the driver was wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
