MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A 10-year-old was hit and killed by a van in a Marshfield parking lot Friday.
Marshfield PD reports that the hand controls on a handicapped accessible van were inadvertently activated, causing the van to move in reverse.
Police say the van hit Micah LaSee of Spencer. He was confined to his wheelchair behind the van, and was unable to get out of the way.
Police say LaSee was pinned under and alongside the vehicle for nearly 20 feet before he was freed
He was taken to Marshfield Medical Center and died later that day. An autopsy will be completed to determine the exact cause of death.
The van was owned by Nicole Johnson of Auburndale. Her daughter Patti Jo was identified as the driver. Neither are related to LaSee.
