MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — A trio of home runs from Christian Yelich, Hunter Renfroe, and Rowdy Tellez powered the Brewers to a 9-1 win over the Cubs on Saturday.
Both Yelich and Renfroe finished the day 3-5 with 2 RBI. Tellez was 2-4 with 3 RBI. Willy Adames added a double, a walk, and a run scored in 4 at-bats.
Eric Lauer improved to 2-0 on the season with a quality start- allowing five hits and one earned run over seven innings with 11 strikeouts and just one walk. Trevor Gott and Jake Cousins handled the 8th and 9th, allowing just one hit and striking out four over to close things out.
Milwaukee finished the month of April at 15-7, their 3rd-best record for the month in franchise history. Only 1987 (18-3) and 2014 (20-8) brought better records.
Saturday’s win clinched a fourth straight series victory. They’ll go for the sweep on Sunday afternoon, pregame coverage begins at 12:35.
