MOSINEE, WI (WSAU) — A local summer school program will be shut down on Friday due to a COVID case.
According to a joint press release from the Marathon County Health Department and the Mosinee School District, a participant in summer school has tested positive for COVID-19. Due to the positive case, summer school is closed Friday, July 17th for thorough cleaning and contact tracing.
Those who had close contact with the individual who tested positive will be notified shortly by the Health Department. All summer school staff and participants have also been notified of the positive test by the Mosinee School District.
Health Department Public Information Officer Judy Burrows says of the case, “COVID is continuing to spread throughout our community and everyone can take precautions to prevent the spread. The best prevention measures are wearing cloth face masks and social distancing”.
Summer school will be reopened in Mosinee on Monday, July 20th in accordance with collaboration and guidance from the Health Department.
