MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — There will be no swimming at Merrill’s municipal swimming pool this year. The city’s Parks and Rec Department has decided that the Bierman Family Aquatic Center will be closed this summer.
A Facebook post explains that if they did open, the pool would be limited to 25% capacity. A written statement said: “We would have to have additional COVID staff and supplies to monitor and sanitize during all hours of operation. This, along with creations of high touch areas; would make it very difficult for us to ensure the health and safety of our staff and the public.”
City officials said their decision was made after consulting with county health officials, and is consistent with state and federal guidance.
