WESTON, WI (WSAU) — St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston has been sold. Ascension has sold the facility to Marshfield Clinic Health System.
Terms of the sale have not been made public.
Ascension will also sell its 50% interest in the Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Weston and Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls.
Dr. Susan Turney, CEO of Marshfield Clinic said, “The agreement signals our organization’s continued commitment to health care in rural Wisconsin and to serving patients on their terms. We are excited to bring this model of care to the Wausau/Weston area, which will be fully realized with the acquisition of St. Clare’s Hospital.”
Ascension Wisconsin Sr VP Bernie Sherry said, “We came to this agreement with the best interests of our patients, communities and associates in mind in the context of the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape in Wisconsin and nationally. Ascension and MCHS are working diligently on a smooth transition.”
Marshfield Clinic had considered building a separate hospital in Wausau. Those plans have been dropped.
St. Clare’s opened as the Wausau area’s second hospital 14 years ago.
