WHITEWATER, WI (WSAU) — The UW-Stevens Point baseball team will continue their season next week at the NCAA Division III College World Series in Cedar Rapids, IA.
The Pointers got three home runs from Lucas Luedte and a grand slam from Logan Matson of Neillsville to complete an 11-7 victory over UW-Whitewater and eliminate the Warhawks from the DIII tournament.
Eight of UWSP’s nine hitters had a hit in the game. Six Pointers had multi-hit games.
UWSP has now scored 131 runs in ten postseason games.
The Pointers were one of four teams to clinch their spot on Saturday. The remaining four schools will be decided later today.
The Division III College World Series will take place at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The tournament format will mirror the previous two rounds, with schools split into two brackets of four teams each. They’ll play double elimination until two bracket winners emerge, with those schools playing a best-of-three series for the Division III championship.
The tournament begins on June 3rd.
