WASHINGTON D.C. (WTAQ ) – It’s a move that could have a big impact in the race for Wisconsin Governor. Former President Donald Trump announced Thursday he’s endorsing construction executive Tim Michels in the race for the Republican nomination for Wisconsin governor.
The endorsement is likely to elevate Michels, a late entrant into the race, and marks a blow for Rebecca Kleefisch, who served as lieutenant governor under former Gov. Scott Walker, and has been leading in the polls.
Businessman and U.S. Marine veteran Kevin Nicholson, and State Assemblyman Tim Ranthum are the other GOP candidates.
The winner of the August 9th primary will will face Democratic Gov. Tony Evers in November.
