WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — One week from today the City of Wisconsin Rapids will open its doors for its annual 4th of July celebration.
Mayor Shane Blaser says those who plan on attending can expect many of the same features and events from years past. “We have downtown vendors, we’ll have a DJ, the city band, and we’ll have a new group in the area, Rhapsody, that will be signing the National Anthem.”
Blaser says this will be the first year with a new fireworks vendor. The city has enlisted the same company that works with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters for their postgame shows, and they’ve promised some new twists in this year’s show.
Those attending should note that many of the usual downtown streets will be closed off due to construction, so plan your routes and parking accordingly. The Jackson Street bridge will be closed for construction and as usual, the city will close the Grad Avenue bridge to allow pedestrians to watch the show from there.
“We’re going to be bottlenecked,” added Blaser.
Blaser says music in the downtown area begins at about 6 PM with the live DJ. The city band will play at 7:00, and the final countdown for the fireworks display will begin at 8.
