WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau Police say they have not issued any citations or made an arrest in connection with Thursday’s deadly crash near 10th and Forest.
Officers say a 48-year-old Wausau resident was driving north on 10th Street when they approached the Forest Street intersection. The 12-year-old child was riding their bike along Forest on the north sidewalk.
Both the bicyclist and the driver entered the intersection at the same time. The car struck the bicyclist in the midpoint of the vehicle.
The child suffered life-threatening injuries at the scene and was rushed to Asprius Hospital, where they later died.
No further information was released on Friday including the names of those involved, and officers are continuing to investigate. The accident closed down the intersection of 10th and Forest for several hours on Thursday.
