GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU-WAOW) Sunday’s halftime ceremony at Lambeau Field was a special one honoring Jerry Kramer. His name is now displayed inside Lambeau Field alongside other Packer legends.
Kramer says seeing his name unveiled was like a kick to the stomach, the good kind of course. “I mean it was a physical reaction, it wasn’t a mental reaction, it was a physical thing and I wondered if I would faint or going to fall over or what I was going to do,” said Kramer.
Kramer also received his Pro Football Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence during the ceremony, something he’s waited more than four decades to get into. He was inducted in Canton earlier this year.
“The Pro Football Hall of Fame is here today to celebrate the excellence of one of the greatest Green Bay Packers and one of the greatest football players of all time, Hall of Famer Jerry Kramer,” said David Baker, president of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
“Congratulations on a well-deserved honor, you waited 45 years, but you finally got it,” said Green Bay Packers president, Mark Murphy.
Kramer’s family was by his side during the halftime ceremony, his daughter Alicia was seen struggling to hold back tears.
“Cheering and standing up and applauding and that whole thing, it just, you don’t imagine that. That’s above and beyond your imagination, but it was absolutely wonderful and it just made you feel really good,” said Kramer.
