Jesus Aguilar smacked his 24th home run for Milwaukee, which has dropped four of its last six games.
Wade Miley yielded two runs in five frames to suffer the loss.
The Brewers arrived early in Pittsburgh early in the morning before the game, after playing a late-ending extra-innings game in Miami the night before.

Brewers pitcher Jeremy Jeffress is heading to the All-Star Game as a replacement. He gives Milwaukee a franchise-record five All-Stars. Jeffress joins Lorenzo Cain, Christian Yelich, Jesus Aguilar and Josh Hader. The Midsummer Classic is Tuesday in Washington DC.
The Brewers also made more roster moves before Thursday’s ballgame, activating starting pitcher Miley from the 60-day disabled list. The team also called up pitchers Alec Asher and Adrian Houser. The Crew sent down infielder Nate Orf and pitchers Freddy Peralta and Jorge Lopez. Infielder Eric Sogard was released.
