UNDATED (WSAU) Wisconsin’s injury-filled basketball season came to an end Friday afternoon with a 63-60 loss to Michigan State. The Badgers were knocked out in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament against the number-1 team in the league.
Wisconsin had built narrow leads in the first half and a few minutes after halftime. The Spartans got on-top for good when Matt McQuaid hit a 3-pointer with 1:30 remaining. Miles Bridges led Michigan State with 20 points. Ethan Happ had 22 to lead all scorers.
It was the second time in a week that the under-manned Badgers gave Michigan State a down-to-the-wire game.
Wisconsin, which had no seniors in its starting line-up, finishes the season with a 15-18 record. The team’s streak of 19-straight NCAA appearances came to an end this year.
