TOWN OF STOCKTON, WI (WSAU) — Two semis collided in Portage County on Tuesday, resulting in one death and shutting down eastbound lanes of US Highway 10 for nearly six hours.
According to the State Patrol, it happened near County Road LN in the Town of Stockton at around 12:30 PM. Investigators say one of the semis was turning right onto the highway when their vehicle was struck by a second semi traveling east.
The driver of the semi that was turning, a 56-year-old Winnebago County man, suffered minor injuries. The driver of the second semi, a 51-year-old from Richland County, died at the scene.
First responders were tasked with securing the scene and putting out a small fire in one of the cabs as well. Both eastbound lanes of US 10 remained closed until about 6 PM.
