MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Brewers claimed another big win as the baseball season turns towards its final week.
Milwaukee pounded out 10 hits in a 10-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday thanks to a strong day from the bullpen and a pair of home runs from Keston Hiura and Trent Grisham.
Hiura did his damage in the first inning with a two-run shot, his only hit of the game before being lifted for a pinch-runner in the later innings. Grisham’s tater came in the 7th and was one of three hits for him.
Lorenzo Cain finished the day 3-4 with a double and two RBI. Ryan Braun was 2-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Pitcher Josh Davies was lifted after four innings and didn’t factor in the decision. Reliever Brent Suter followed with two shutout innings to pick up his 3rd win of the season. Four other pitchers would finish the final three innings.
With the win, Milwaukee sits three games up on the Cubs for the second Wild Card spot and one game behind Washington for home-field advantage in the Wild Card game. Data Analytics site FiveThirtyEight shows the Brewers with a 94% chance to qualify for the Postseason, with the Cubs chances dwindling to just 5%.
The Brewers close out their series with the Pirates today at Miller Park before finishing on the road with three games against Cincinnati and three games at Colorado from Tuesday through next Sunday.
