MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Wisconsin mens basketball coach Greg Gard was named Big Ten Coach of the Year on Monday by both the leagues coaches and the media.
In an interview with the Big Ten Network Gard called it “a team honor.” He sais “he was fortunate to coach these guys and the job of my assistant coaches has been phenomenal.”
The Badgers became the first team to win a Big Ten regular season title without a first or second team all-conference selection. They were picked to finish well down in the standings in pre-season polls.
Wisconsin has won eight straight games and is the #1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. They will play on Friday morning.
