ST CLOUD, MN and MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Five goals from four different players powered the #5 Badger women’s hockey team to a 5-0 win over St. Cloud State in WCHA play Friday night.
Nicole LaMantia scored twice and recorded one assist in the win. Sophie Shirley scored two assists.
Other g0als came from Eden Lacy, Caroline Harvey, and Jesse Compher. Cami Kronish faced just ten shots, saving them all.
Wisconsin improves to 6-1-0 overall and 3-0 in WCHA play. The same two teams will play again Saturday afternoon.
Meanwhile, in Madison, it was non-conference action for SCSU and Wisconsin as the Badgers fell 5-1.
Mathieu De St. Phalle scored the lone goal for the Badgers in the third period. At the time that cut the lead to 3-1, but SCSU would storm back with a short-handed goal from Grant Ahcan, the brother of former Badger Roman.
Ahcan also recorded an assist in the game. Brock Caufield and Daniel Laatsch recorded assists for the Badgers.
Jared Moe faced 28 shots and made 23 saves.
The Huskie men were making their first trip to Madison since 2013 when the Badgers left the WCHA men’s conference for the Big Ten.
Wisconsin drops to 0-3 on the season, while #10 SCSU improves to 3-0. Game two of the series will be played Saturday evening.
WSAU will not have coverage of game two as Badger football plays Michigan State Saturday afternoon. Pregame coverage for football will start at 1 PM.
