After taking two weeks to do a deep-dive into the four proposals and community feedback, the Wausau Economic Development Committee could decide between four different proposals for low-income or affordable housing units at 700 Grand Avenue on Monday.
The committee spent more than an hour earlier this month hearing visions for the one-acre parcel from Commonwealth Development, General Capital, Horizon Development Corp, and Gorman and Company. All four proposals called for at least 50 housing units with parking and other amenities. Most call for on-site management. The proposal from Gorman and Company consists of senior housing units; Horizon Development Corp would include eight market-rate units with the remainder at affordable rates.
All that occurred during their regular meeting on October 4th. Following the presentations and a closed-session discussion, the committee chose to table the matter to get more feedback from residents and have more time to digest the proposals.
Another closed-session discussion is scheduled for tonight as well, along with possible action.
