MADISON, WI (WSAU) — As heard on WSAU Saturday the Penn State men’s hockey team blanked Wisconsin 4-0 thanks to a three-goal outburst in the third period.
The two sides skated to a 1-0 scoreline after the first and second periods. The Nittany Lions would then get on the board early in the 3rd and pull away.
Wisconsin was outshot 43-32 in the contest. Jared Moe gave up three goals in net, with the final PSU tally coming on an empty net.
Wisconsin falls to 0-4 in Big Ten play and will travel to East Lansing next weekend for two against Michigan State.
The Badger women’s hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Minnesota-Duluth with a 4-3 win thanks to a three-goal second. Wisconsin got out to an early 1-0 lead on a power play tally from Caroline Harvey only to see the Bulldogs come back for a 2-1 lead by the 5:00 mark in the second.
Wisconsin started their comeback with an Eden Lacey goal with 12:00 to go in the frame. Harvey and Nicole LaMantia.
Jane Gervais picked up the win in net for the Badgers
The Badger volleyball team handled Minnesota in four sets by scores of 25-20, 25-20, 16-25, and 25-23. Devyn Robinson recorded 13 kills and four errors in 32 attack attempts. Izzy Ashburn recorded 30 set assists.
Sarah Franklin recorded 18 kills though did have eight hitting errors in 56 total swings for an attack percentage of .179.
Julia Orzol added 13 kills.
Wisconsin moves to 17-3 overall and 11-1 in Big Ten play. Minnesota had defeated the Badgers earlier this year in Minneapolis.
