The Wausau Water Works commission will get a first look at a proposal that would map out a timeline for replacing lead service lines in the city over the next 15 years.
The proposal calls for a complete city inventory of all lead lines by October 2024 along with notification to homeowners who could potentially be impacted.
A total of $5.4 million would be spent on the program annually through a combination of grants, loans, water rates, and taxes and fees.

The plan was ordered last October and is required under new EPA guidelines for water service lines. The plan also needs to be approved by the DNR for the city to take advantage of funding options that are available to replace the lines.
Tuesday’s meeting begins at 1:30 at City Hall.
