If the constant drip, drip, drip of racism, bigotry, sexism, homophobia and hatred that has reared its ugly head recently is getting you down and and you think its never going to end…I offer this slice of hope from the brilliant Brandi Carlile. Elton John said if there was one song he wished he could have written…it was this one.
We lost Carl Reiner this week. The word legend gets overused sometimes in the entertainment field but Reiner certainly qualifies for the title. He shared the screen and writing room with Sid Caesar and Mel Brooks…he conceived the premise for the Dick Van Dyke Show (based on his own life)….he directed some of Steve Martin's best films….and, of course, younger folks will remember him as the crusty old con man in Oceans 11. He was nominated for 16 Emmy Awards and won 9…he won a Grammy…and in 2000 was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. He played the straight man for Brooks but certainly could get a laugh on his own as well. Reiner was 98.
This should play well….
Brian Cashman says his understanding is that the team will not be able to disclose when a player is placed on the covid-IL. What if someone is missing from the lineup? “We may not be able to speak to why and it would be a speculating circumstance.”
