The Stoughton Opera House released their 2019-2020 season this week. It's got some tasty dates. The venue is a nice classic old theater and a great place to see a show. Some of the highlights include:
Iris Dement Oct 19th
Two shows by Richard Thompson! Oct 23 & 24
Rhiannon Giddens Nov 2 & 3
Steve Earle Nov 15 & 16
Steely Dane (a Madison based Steely Dan Tribute band that I'm told is really good Feb 8th)
Ladysmith Black Mambazo March 5
Marty Stuart March 21 & 22
Leo Kottke April 16
Rhonda Vincent & The Rage April 17
Taj Mahal April 23
Rodney Crowell April 24
Asleep at The Wheel April 30 & May 1
I've never seen Richard Thompson and he's on my bucket list…also craving to see Rhiannon Giddens live.
Crowell is going to be at the Grand Theater in Wausau as well.
Here's another great tune done up my musicians around the world.
John Prine is postponing concert dates to have heart surgery. The legendary singer-songwriter needs a stent. Prine continues to tour in support of his latest LP “Tree of Forgiveness”. His voice is a bit worn but he can still turn a lyrical phrase as well as anyone. His first LP is a masterpiece
Ok HBO….I'm in!
This one too!
Some pretty good defense last night.
Its a day-night doubleheader for the Woodchucks and Rafters today. The day game is in Wausau and I'll be in the booth with Connor McCann for the broadcast…11:35 on Foxsports Radio AM1390 & FM 93.9.
Quotes Of The Day
“Unite behind the science”-Greta Thunberg
” The climate crisis will not wait for the comfort of politicians. The consequences of a burning planet are coming, and the situation we leave our children will be proportionate to the courage (or lack thereof) we show now. Greta's right. Unite behind the science…not lobbyists.”-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
“Dear Trumpublicans, if you're planning on going Ninja Warrior on Robert Mueller, remember, Mueller served our country . He was awarded a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, a Navy Commendation Medal. You are serving a man who dodged the draft.”-Ana Navarro-Cardenas
“Lindsay Graham says Medicare and Social Security are “promises we can't keep” but he just voted for a budget that will add $1 trillion to the deficit. He's breaking promises to hard-working Americans like my grandma in order to keep promises to his wealthy donors.”-Jamie Harrison
“This opiod stuff is just stunningly, brazenly criminal. One drug company sent a single pharmacy in a town of 400 people 5 MILLION pain pills in 2 years. Another filled a monthly Rx for 1500 oxycodone pills for one person. Beyond appalling.”-Kathyrn Schulz
First seen in Mad Magazine over 50 years ago….could have been drawn last week.
Songs Of The Day (The movie Sgt Pepper opened on this date in 1978 and although it pretty much stunk…there were some good musical moments)
