Tim Conway has died. Another piece of our 60's and 70's childhood taken away. When you think of the top comedians of all-time you probably don't think of Conway right away. He seemed confused all the time. His characters could never get it right. And yet, we laughed. and laughed. and laughed. He made his co-stars crack up almost everytime. It became a running gag on the Carol Burnett Show. Younger people may watch these videos and wonder what we saw in him. The comedy is gentle. It's not in-your-face or bullying. And yet, it brought big belly laughs from even the most hardened folks. And, alot of what he did was unscripted. Not as talented an improvisor as Robin Williams, but he could hold his own with most. I leave you with the man himself talking about his start in the 60's sit-com McHales Navy and also some of his classic sketches from ther Carol Burnett Show. Oh, the Dentist sketch made Harvey Korman wet himself.
A buddy of mine saw David Crosby and his band last week in Minneapolis. He is out on tour with his electric band including his son James Raymond on keyboards and the great Jeff Pevar on guitar. It was reportedly a great show which included some of his most iconic hits like Wooden Ships and Deja Vu. I mention this because I just saw an announcement that Crosby and his band are making a stop at the Big Top Chatauqua this year on Saturday August 24th. If you havent seen a show under the Big Top outside Bayfield this is a perfect chance. Great venue in the Lake Superior peninsula with excellent restaurants and other things to do. Make a weekend of it.
The Bucks host Toronto in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference playoffs tonight. Should be an excellent series.
Milwaukee radio station WXSS-FM is not going to play any Drake music for the length of the playoff series. Drake is a big Raptors fans and a Toronto native.
Stat of the day from the regular season….Kyle Lowry was guarded by Eric Bledsoe for 122 possessions during the regualr season and scored 0 times.
With only a 6% chance to win the NBA Draft Lottery, the New Orleans Pelicans win the first pick and will get to select Zion Williamson in the draft. Memphis will pick second followed by the Knicks, Lakers and Cavaliers.
I also saw a bombshell report yesterday that suggested the Lakers are considering a trade that would send Lebron James to Philly for Ben Simmons and others. Sounds like BS to me.
The Keston Hiura era has begun in Milwaukee. The Brewers called up their #1 pick from the 2017 draft and played him in last nights win over Philly. He was 2-3 with a walk in his debut. He replaces the scuffling Travis Shaw who goes on the IL with a mysterious wrist injury. The bigger injury here is his on-base percentage. Here is Hiura's first major league hit…
