I spent a fun weekend with family and friends. Others were not so lucky.
“But lets be clear, the alt-right is a euphemism for white nationalism, racism and bigotry” – former rightwing radio host Charlie Sykes.
“This is not “many sides”. Its White Supremacist Terrorism. -Republican strategist and tv commentator Ana Navarro
“Silence in the face of evil is itself evil…not to speak is to speak. not to act is to act”- Dietrich Bonhoeffer
The easiest task for an American President to perform—the very easiest—is to unreservedly condemn Nazism. There is nothing easier”-Jeffrey Goldberg
“Racism is evil because its ultimate logic is genocide” -Martin Luther King Jr
“I escaped the Nazi's once, You will not defeat me now”- Holocaust survivor and Charlottesville protester Marianne Rubin
Do not let the right wing squawk machine (including some on this radio station) tell you there is equivalence between the two groups in Charlottesville. They will try. Do not be fooled by their bullshit. Defending Neo-Nazi and white supremacist pinheads should be called what it is…reprehensible, indefensible, and a stain on America. They are not patriots. They are not regular folks protecting “a way of life”. They are evil men, doing evil things, reviving evil philosophies. Philosophies that our fathers and grandfathers fought and died to protect us from. Reflect on this….Nazi flags and hand salutes on the streets of an American city…Thomas Jeffersons home town. A woman killed and dozens injured by a coward who can't face up to his own shortcomings as a man and needs to act out…egged on by others including people working in our White House serving the highest office in the land. Make no mistake, the blood of Heather Heyer and the others is not only on the hands of the killer, but also stains the hands of Steve Bannon, Sebastian Gorka and the other enablers and defenders of this movement. And if there are those still on the air defending these pitiful little men…the blood is on their hands as well.
Elections have consequences…”If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention”. Last Facebook post of Heather Heyer….nuff said.
Songs of The Day
Drug Store Truck Drivin Man-The Byrds (1969) an acid barbed tune aimed at conservative country dj Ralph Emery could be read as an allegory toward what Roger McGuinn and Gram Parsons saw as the institutional racism of the south. Recorded after Parsons and Chris Hillman left the band to start The Flying Burrito Brothers, it appears on the album “Dr. Bryds and Mr Hyde”
