An excellent story in the Wisconsin State Journal from Jason Galloway as the University of Wisconsin prepares to celebrate the 100th birthday of Camp Randall Stadium. The rest of the year will be filled with special events, fan experiences and even a website dedicated to the anniversary. The orginal stadium was actually built in the late 1800's on land where Wisconsin Civil War troops trained but some bleachers fell apart during a game in 1915 and the stadium was rebuilt in 1917. I've had some great memories of football Saturday's at Camp Randall…even when the games weren't very good back in the late 70's..we seemed to find a way to have a good time! Also saw alot of great athletes play there including Al Toon, The RoadRunner Rufus Ferguson, Billy Marek, Greg “Grape Juice” Johnson, Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne and Wausau natives Jeff Dellenbach, Mark Zalewski, Andy Crooks and Chris Ghidorzi. Camp Randall is now the 4th oldest stadium in the country and has been upgraded a few times to improve the fan experience. From the pre-game tailgating and party at Union South, to Jump Around, to the Fifth Quarter…if you havent tasted the Badger game day experience on a football Saturday…put it on your bucket list.
Did you realize that playing fantasy football for money is illegal for college athletes? Five University of Richmond baseball players found out the hard way. They have been ruled ineligible for this season. The NCAA considers it gambling. Punishment seems harsh for something that millions of Americans do…and most will tell you…there is skill involved in putting together a successful fantasy team. And they certainly can't be the only one's doing it.
A couple of the NFL's top running backs are free agents. Who makes a run at Adrain Peterson and Jamaal Charles and how much do they have left in the tank?

Whats with all the NHL players coming down with the mumps? Now the Minneosta Wild have some guys who need to be quarantined.
Next time someone tells you that we spend to much tax money on “liberal” programs…tell them that I support taking my $1.37 for PBS…my $.46 for arts programs, my $.46 for museums and libraries, my $1.48 for womens programs, my$.48 for a civil rights division of the Justice Dept, my $.38 for environemntal programs, my $.03 for climate change study, my $8.95 to research sustainable energy…just use some of the $368 I spend every year to pay corporate welfare to Big Oil and Wal-Mart! This administration is going to try and cut all of these programs and more. They want to take a hack-saw to the State Department Budget and dozens of military generals have sent the President a letter telling him what a bad idea that is. Let's see if he or at least the bought and paid for members of Congress listen. Once again…elections have consequences.
