I had a friend ask the question on Facebook…name your Top 10 favorite albums. Now, of course it's a fools errand. Anyone who has enjoyed music over the years will find it impossible to really narrow a list like that down to 10. But in the interest of getting a discussion started and also finding out more about someone, a Top 10 alum list is a good place to start. So, with out even doing any research I came up with a list of 10. These are records that I still listen to over and over…so there must be something to them that continually brings me back. It's heavily weighted to the 1970's. My coming of age time when listening to music was important business. So without further ado…here it is.
1. Court & Spark-Joni Mitchell
2. Blood on The Tracks-Bob Dylan
3. Northern Lights, Southern Cross-The Band
4.Pretzel Logic-Steely Dan
5.John Prine (1st album)
6.Chicago Transit Authority (1st album)
7. Alive On Arrival-Steve Forbert
8. Dire Straits (1st album)
9. The River-Bruce Springsteen
10. Relish-Joan Osborne
I could list hundreds more and maybe I will at some point…but these are my essentials.
Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer has been struggling a bit this year but not last night. Scherzer became just the 4th pitcher in major league histtory to strike out 20 batters in a game. He fanned 20 Tigers in a 3-2 win. He joins Roger Clemens (who did it twice), Randy Johnson and Kerry Wood in accomplishing the feat.
Tuesday night the team with the top record in the East fell in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Last night the top team in the West joined them. The Dallas Stars were ousted in Gme seven by the St. Louis Blues. The Blues are in the conference finals for the first time since 2001 and will face the winner of Nashville/San Jose who play a game 7 tonight.
Do you get sucked into movies that you've seen dozens of times while channel surfing? It happens to me all the time including last night as I sat and watched the final 45 minutes of War Games which is always enjoyable.
If the rains clear out of here there will be a good doubleheader of high school baseball today at Mark Simon Field as the DC Everest Evergreens will host Wausau West…first pitch at 4:15 on Foxsports Radio AM1390 & FM 93.9.
