RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU-WXPR) – A Northwoods restaurant may be under new ownership, but it will continue a Thanksgiving tradition set by the previous owners.
Dave Holt and his wife Traia bought Backwaters Bar and Grill just north of Rhinelander last April. They plan to give out free to-go dinners just as the previous owners did. “We both thought it was a fantastic idea that the previous owners had done. One of the biggest excitements for us about becoming business owners in the community was the ability to donate.”
The more people or businesses donate to the free meal fund, the more meals they’ll be able to provide.
With them being first-year business owners, Holt says they aren’t able to contribute as much as they’d like this year. “We certainly hope in the future to make our contribution to his larger. We are contributing, but it will not be as big we’d hoped just simply because it’s the first year that we’re in business. The first year of any business is pretty tight.”
If you’d like to donate or receive meals, you can reach out to Backwaters.
