We all remember the controversy when Brett Favre allegedly laid down for his buddy Michael Strahan so he could get the NFL sack record. Nobody liked the insinuation. Just like nobody likes it when pitchers allegedly throw a lollipop fast ball down the middle for some aging hitter in his final at bat. We like our competition to be clean and above board. Otherwise it becomes pro wrestling. Now I have nothing against the rasslers. They provide their form of cartoonish entertainment paired with athletic ability. But its not competition. We watch games to see which team or player will come out on top that day. And we want to know that everybody is trying their best. That's why when I heard the rumor yesterday that Aaron Rodgers might have thrown the late interception in Sunday's game on purpose, trying to get a last pick for his buddy Charles Woodson, it bothered me even as I dismissed it. Woodson announced his retirement last night and you have to expect he gave Rodgers some inkling of his decision in their pre game conversation. And when Rodgers threw that pass, no one could believe that the Packer quarterback could throw one that bad. And Woodson would have had the interception too…until one of his teammates stepped in front of him to grab it instead. I believe that Aaron Rodgers is too much of a competitor and respects the game to much to take part is such a sham. And why would Woodson want such a tainted reward anyway? So I'll chalk this up as just another internet rumor with no basis in fact. Now about Odell Beckham Jr…..
It's going to be interesting to see how both the Bucks and Badgers respond to coaching changes this week. Greg Gard makes his debut Wednesday night for Bucky against UW-Green Bay who put a hundred on the board against D-3 Superior on Sunday. And Joe Prunty, who coaches the British national team and has been an assistant to Kidd for a number of years will take over the reins of the Bucks for the forseeable future after Kidd had hip surgery on Monday. The Bucks host 1 win Philly on Wednesday.
I'll be in Antigo tonight as the Wausau East Lumberjack boys basketball team puts their unbeaten mark on the line against the Red Robins. We will have the game live on Foxsports Radio AM1390 & FM 93.9 and live streamed at foxsportswausau.com at 730 followed by DC Everest hockey vs Chippewa Falls.
