MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers made some roster moves on Friday as they look to re-make the roster.
Longtime Brewers Brent Suter will be moving on.
Multiple MLB insiders indicate the Colorado Rockies claimed the Brewers pitcher on Friday after the team placed him on the waiver wire instead of choosing to negotiate a new contract with him.
The 33-year-old was drafted by the Brewers in 2012 and made his big-league debut in 2016. In 2022 he made 54 appearances as a reliever, recording a 5-3 record in 66.2 innings with an ERA of 3.78
The lefty owns a career record of 36-19 with a 3.51 ERA, serving as a starting pitcher and reliever during his time with the club.
Suter was one of more than a dozen players on the current roster that are eligible for arbitration, meaning the team would have to negotiate a one-year contract with them based on recent performance. If the team and player can’t agree on a deal, their salary is determined by a third party.
Other moves included:
Pitchers Matt Bush and Adrian Houser signed one-year contracts
Relief pitcher Javy Guerra was acquired from Tampa Bay for a player to be named later. He is 27 and has made 44 major league appearances since 2019. He’s pitching winter ball right now.
Trevor Gott, Jandel Gustave and Luis Perdomo were non-tendered.
Corbin Burnes, Devin Williams, Brandon Woodruff, Eric Lauer, Hoby Milner, Willy Adames, Hunter Renfroe, Rowdy Tellez, Luis Urias, Mike Brosseau, Keston Hiura and Victor Caratini were all tendered contracts. They were all eligible for arbitration.
