CHICAGO, IL (WSAU) — The Packers scored 18 straight points to overcome a second-half deficit in a 28-19 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
The Bears opened an early 10-0 lead in the first quarter before Mason Crosby nailed a 24-yard field goal to get Green Bay on the board.
After a David Montgomery touchdown run it was all Packers as Aaron Rodgers found Christian Watson from 14 yards out to cap a 13-play, 75-yard drive that sent the game to halftime at 16-10 Bears.
Cairo Santos did tack on another field goal to stretch the lead to nine but early in the 4th, the Packers would turn that tide starting with a 21-yard touchdown run from AJ Dillion. That was followed by a Mason Crosby field goal from 32 yards out which put the Packers on top for the first time at 20-19.
Green Bay closed out the scoring by dipping into their bag of tricks for a 46-yard end-around from Watson. Rodgers found Marcedes Lewis for the two-point conversion to close out the scoring.
Rodgers finished the game 18-31 for 182 yards and one touchdown. Dillion picked up 93 rushing yards and one score, while Watson recorded 48 receiving yards, 46 rushing yards, and two scores.
De’Vondre Campbell recorded 11 tackles. Jaire Alexander added seven tackles (two for loss) and one interception.
With the win, Green Bay remains mathematically alive in the NFC playoff race. Metrics site FiveThirtyEight shows the Packers with a 5% chance to make the postseason. Chicago has been eliminated from playoff contention.
BETTING LINES: Green Bay entered the game as a three-and-a-half-point favorite (-3.5) and covers the spread. The over/under was 45 points, over hits.
Green Bay is one of six teams that will be on a bye next week, the last week of byes before the final four weeks of the season. They’ll return to action Monday, December 19th against the LA Rams.
