MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers lost catcher Mario Feliciano who was claimed on waivers by the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday. He had been designated for assignment after the Brewers had made some moves earlier that had brought catchers William Contreras and Payton Henry to the roster.
The Brewers also added infielder Owen Miller as a free agent from Cleveland last week.
Feliciano was a second round draft pick in 2016 and played in two major league games for Milwaukee this past August. He has been limited by injuries the past two seasons.
The Brewers also signed eight players to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training. They include pitchers JC Mejia, Collin Wiles, Tobias Myers, Tyler Herb, Lucas Erceg and Thomas Pannone and infielders Eddy Alvarez and Andrew Monasterio.
Erceg is a former Brewers minor league infielder who has switched to full-time pitching. He throws in the high 90’s and had 69 strikeouts in 61 innings last season
