MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) –The city of Marshfield will be removing more ash trees from Braem Park this month to protect against the invasive Emerald Ash Borer.
According to a news release from the city this year’s work will focus on a four-acre area on the north side of the park. The park will remain open during the process, but residents should stay at least 300 feet away from the operations.
Emerald Ash Borer is an invasive wood-boring insect that’s been slowly spreading throughout Wisconsin. The animals burrow under the tree’s bark and disrupt the transportation of water and nutrients from the tree’s roots. The bugs can kill the tree if they are left untreated.
