ANTIGO, WI (WSAU) — The jury has been seated for the Derek Goplin homicide trial.
Twelve people were selected on Tuesday along with three alternates. They’ll spend the next two weeks hearing arguments in the case, starting with opening statements on Wednesday.
The 39-year-old is accused of killing his mother, Susan Reese, during an argument in the fall of 2021. Her body was found the next day during a welfare check. Goplin then went on the run before he was arrested in Racine County.
The trial is scheduled to run through February 10th. He faces a mandatory life sentence if found guilty.
