RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — A former school janitor in the Rhinelander School District has been sentenced to prison time and extended supervision for three counts related to the sexual assault of a former student.
Stavros Iliopoulos will serve 14 years in prison and another 16 years of extended supervision, or probation, for the count.
Charges stem from a 2018 incident in which Iliopoulos forced the victim into a storage closet where he assaulted her.
Additional terms of his sentence include a lifetime stay on the state’s sex offender registration database, no contact with the victim or victim’s family, no contact with any children, and the completion of all treatment or therapy programs as deemed necessary.
He was also sentenced to shorter prison and probation time for two other charges, which will run alongside the sexual assault charge.
The 69-year-old was previously found guilty on the charge in 2019 but was able to successfully petition for a retrial on grounds that his lawyer was not effective. He was found guilty at the new trial, which was the same result as the first.
