WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – One person is in custody following a shooting incident near Downtown Wausau Wednesday morning.
Marathon County dispatch received a report of shots fired in the 700 Block of Forest Street at around 8:45. Officers were able to make phone contact with the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Brian R. Penny, and were able to take him into custody without further incident.
Officers are recommending charges of Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Disorderly Conduct, Armed while Intoxicated, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Penny is expected to make his first court appearance at 2:00 PM Thursday.
No further information has been released, and there is no danger to the public.
