MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers and first baseman Luke Voit and outfielder Tyler Naquin reached an agreement on minor league contracts on Tuesday. Both players will report to major league spring training.
In 135 games with San Diego and Washington last season, Voit, 32, hit .226 with 22 home runs, 69 RBIs, a .308 on-base percentage, and a .402 slugging percentage. When the Nationals declined to extend him a contract through 2023, he became a free agent.
Naquin, who turns 32 on April 24, batted .229 last season while playing 105 games for the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds. He also had 11 home runs, 46 RBIs, a .282 on-base percentage, and a.423 slugging percentage.
In 557 games, Naquin hit .264 with 61 home runs, 237 RBIs, a.318 on-base percentage, and a.418 slugging percentage. Before joining the Reds in 2021, he played in Cleveland during his first five seasons.
The Milwaukee Brewers will play the Los Angeles Dodgers in their opening Spring Training game on Saturday.
