WISCONSIN (WTAQ-WRN) — Governor Tony Evers joins an alliance of pro-choice governors.
The Wisconsin Democrat, a vocal opponent of the state’s 1849 law which prohibits virtually all abortions, is one of 20 governors in the newly formed Reproductive Freedom Alliance.
They pledge to protect and expand abortion access in their respective states, following the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade.
Evers is the only member from a state that has zero access to abortion.
The alliance led by California’s Gavin Newsom, is officially nonpartisan, but so far includes only Democrats.
