WISCONSIN (WTAQ-WRN) — Assembly Speaker Robin Vos appears cool to local government expectations for more money in the next state budget.
During a Wisconsin Counties Association roundtable with other legislative leaders on Wednesday, Speaker Vos said Democratic Governor Tony Evers’ budget uses “phony math.”
The Rochester Republican argued there’s nowhere near enough revenue to fund what Evers’ wants, even just for K-12 education. Vos also tried to lower the expectations of local government groups – including the counties association – who are seeking more money from the state.
Senate Minority Leader, Melissa Agard, said local governments “have cut to the bone.”
