MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Newman Catholic boy’s basketball team defeated Royall 52-42 on Friday to advance to the Division 5 State Championship game on Saturday.
Isaac Seidel led the Cardinals with 25 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in the game. Conner Krach scored 11 points and seven rebounds. Those two accounted for 69% of the Cardinal’s scoring.
Eli Gustafson led the rebounding department with 16 while also contributing one point. Mason Prey added eight points.
Newman finished the game shooting 41% from the field (15-37) including 5-17 from three-point land.
Carter Uppena led Royall with 14 points.
Newman plays McDonell Catholic Central for the state title on Saturday. They defeated Fall River 66-62 in Friday’s other semifinal.
