MADISON, WI (WSAU-WKOW) – On a busy day at the State Capitol on Wednesday, the state Senate passed a resolution requesting that Governor Tony Evers hold a special election for Secretary of State.
The resolution was approved by a vote of 20-11 and was sent to the state Assembly.
Former Secretary Doug La Follette resigned last week, and the governor appointed Sarah Godlewski, a former state treasurer, to the position.

Many in Madison remain divided about how to handle this situation and what it means for Wisconsin voters. However, the general consensus following this resolution is that voters should be given the opportunity to be heard at the polls.
