WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Tom Weinkauf, a legendary central Wisconsin high school basketball coach, has officially announced his retirement from Wausau West Girls Basketball.
Weinkauf, who started in 2017 at Wausau West, made his retirement from the position official on Thursday. In addition, Weinkauf led the basketball teams at Marathon High School’s boys team to three straight state championships from 1975 to 1977, while Wausau Newman Catholic’s ladies team added three more during his tenure as girls coach (2002, 2010 and 2011). Over the course of more than 30 years, he earned 671 career victories.
In 2014, he retired from Newman Catholic.
Weinkauf is a member of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and has led his three teams to 15 state tournament appearances.
