MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – On Sunday, the Brewers made an under-the-radar trade. Bennett Sousa, a left-handed reliever, was acquired by the team from the Reds for cash, according to MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy.
In order to make room on the 40-man roster for Sousa, Aaron Ashby, who underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery last week, was moved to the 60-day injured list.
Brewers trade: LHP Bennett Sousa is marching from Cincinnati to Milwaukee in exchange for cash and international bonus money. He will go to Triple-A Nashville. To clear a 40-man spot, LHP Aaron Ashby transferred to the 60-day IL.

Last season, Sousa, 28, made his major-league debut with the Chicago White Sox. In 25 innings, he had an 8.41 ERA. In 20 innings, Sousa gave up 25 hits, walked 10, and struck out 12.
In the minor leagues, where his lifetime ERA is 2.82 and his strikeout percentage is 31%, Sousa has seen a little bit more success on the mound.
Sousa has already been optioned to Triple-A Nashville by the Brewers. He has two more option years remaining, so the team will most likely move him back and forth between the major and minor leagues as the season progresses, depending on the team’s bullpen needs.
