WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man accused of damaging utility infrastructure failed to appear in court on Monday for a plea hearing.
George Wood is now wanted for arrest after Judge Rick Cveykus issued a bench warrant. The 56-year-old was scheduled to appear for a plea hearing at 2:00 PM. Instead, Cveykus issued a bench warrant and revoked Wood’s $500 bond.
Wood is accused of cutting a Spectrum internet cable last August, which cut internet service to many west-side customers. Police managed to find security camera footage of the incident, which led to his arrest.
He faces a felony charge of criminal damage to a utility with a repeat offender modifier. He faces up to 3.5 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
